I'm probably the most interesting person that I know . . . and that's how it should be. For any of us. You should be the most interesting person who you know. You know?
So, welcome to the machine. From this page - this blog's only post - you'll travel elsewhere. Bon voyage! You choose the itinerary. From here you get to explore the facets of my persona.
I've many interests, but I don’t expect you to share them all. That’s okay. You need to be selective in getting to know another person. Below are some links that you might follow. If you get bored, you've only yourself to blame!
If you’re a casual friend or acquaintance – or even family (I don’t subscribe to the notion that blood is thicker than water) – you might confine your reading to my simple monthly journal. It barely keeps you up to date with my doings, just enough to be able to claim, "Oh yes, I know that guy." But if you restrict your reading to that, you might miss out.
There are several work-related blogs (I'm employed by Otago Polytechnic. For ten years I've taught English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL or ESL). William's Class Blog is for my students. I use it to communicate with them on a regular basis and provide activities and useful links.
One to one-to-one is a blog that supports the Peer Tutoring Program at Otago Polytechnic.
Online Presence - has to do with the development of online resources to support my teaching (and teaching in general).
Then we get onto my personal life. Barefoot the length of Japan - is a travelogue of a human-powered journey. I love to work on books I never finish!
Confessions of a Haiku poet - I dabble in that genre, though not much of late.
Ultra-distance adventures - is where I document my physical exploits. Watch this space for a world record attempt near the end of 2008.
50th Anniversary - is an account (written by my father) of my parents' lives prior to, during and after the World War Two.
PostPeakOil - is where I've started collecting links and information to do with that very important topic. I'm hopelessly behind with (failing) to document my reading.
Ism - is my attempt to develop my own philosophy. I address the meaning of life, the nature of existence, and solve questions Einstein couldn't. Only if you're interested.
